This video teaser for the 2013 FINA World Championships has been live for several months, but it’s worth viewing if you’re looking forward to the event. I’m not the biggest fan of the video, but my heart rate does jump a bit whenever I watch it. (What should the video be? Could you come up with a better way to promote the World Championships? Let us know the kind of video you would produce.)

Ryan Lochte (from the featured photo) has won multiple World Championship medals. He intends to represent Team USA at the 2013 FINA World Championships.

Belmonte Garcia was very conspicuous by her absence in that video especially considering the other Spanish aquatic athletes that were featured.

I Would be not so sure on 4 of your picks

Men 50 Free: Cielo is recovering from Surgery, It will all be based on how good he returns..

Men 400IM: Tyler will have to swim his best, cause Hagino is a good, and it looks like Pereira won´t drop the event.

4×100 Free Relay: I would still pick France, for me Roberts is still just a fluke.

200IM Women: i think YE have the ability to go for both IM WR is she paces it right..

You think Stravius will top Grevers? What has been Vollmer been up to since London? We know Grevers has been training. And Pelton over Ye in the 200IM! Wow.

I think Halsall may win the 50 free (now being coached by James Gibson).

I also can’t believe you picked Ledecky over Muffat in the 400!! Well at least you made your picks interesting. 😉

Races I’m most looking forward to this year:
Mens 100 free: rematch between Adrian and Magnussen and possibly agnel if he can mature physically more
Mens 200 breast: yamaguchi and Gyurta could push some great times
Mens 200 back: the two Americans(whoever they might be) vs irie
Women’s 400 free: muffat vs Schmitt vs ledecky could all go under 4
Women’s 4 by 100 free: Australia vs the Dutch vs the US

I have to agree – the video is weird. It feels very off-beat, lacks energy and the narration is quite off putting. There are SO MANY inspiring moments FINA could use yet none appears. Why not make a video that tells a story? show the hard work, the preparations before a race, the highs and lows, the struggles and victories – swimming is a tough sport and that’s what makes the achievements in it so incredible and inspiring; that’s what grasps our imagination! A bit of drama never hurt a good story…

Here’s a video done the right way. This video is absolutely fantastic (in my opinion) – especially with the unconventional cut (in promo videos anyway) half way through,… Read more »
