Backstroker Kara Coughlin Makes Verbal Commitment to Florida State

Evergreen, Colorado backstroker Kara Coughlin has given her verbal commitment to the Florida State University Seminoles for 2017-18.

“I’m super excited to announce that I committed to swim for Florida State University! It was such a great fit for me, I loved the new coaching staff and felt so welcomed by the entire team. They really made me feel right at home! I couldn’t ask for a better school and program.”

Coughlin is a senior at Evergreen High School. She placed third in the 100 back and seventh in the 100 fly at the 2016 CHSAA 4A State Championships. She also led off Evergreen’s 200 medley relay and swam a leg of the 400 free relay. Coughlin’s club team is Jeffco Hurricanes. She is a Winter Juniors qualifier in both backstroke distances, and her best SCY times are:

  • 50 back – 27.23
  • 100 back – 56.28
  • 200 back – 2:00.18
  • 100 fly – 57.88
  • 200 fly – 2:05.41
  • 400 IM – 4:27.51

Coughlin will join fellow-commit Hailey Ladd in the Seminoles’ class of 2021.
