Australian News Footage Shows Cate Campbell & Australia’s Return To Training

As coronavirus closures start to lift and top swimmers around the world start to return to training, Australia’s Cate Campbell shared some behind-the-scenes footage with Australian media.

Australia’s 7News Brisbane posted the footage on Twitter. Campbell, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time world champ, has temporarily connected with coach Vince Raleigh, and said the training group did about 3,500 meters in its return.

“We took it pretty easy this morning,” Campbell said. “I think everyone is a little worried about getting injured.

“The first step is always the hardest, but it was really good to be back in the water. Felt like coming home.”

Per Axios.com, Australia is beginning to reopen, and is on a course to remove all domestic restrictions by July. According to the Australian Government Department of Health, Australia has had 7,060 total cases of COVID-19, but 6,389 of those have recovered. The country has experienced just 99 deaths from COVID-19, and daily reported cases have dropped dramatically from their peak in late March (as many as 400 reported cases a day) to just 11 newly-confirmed cases reported in the last 24 hours.
