Texas A&M’s Sydney Pickrem kicked off night 3 of Austin Sectionals with another event win, this time taking the women’s 100 back in 1:03.04. She followed that up with another strong swim in the next event, the women’s 100 breast.

In that event, Pickrem squared off with teammate Franko Jonker again after Pickrem won a battle between the two in the 200 breast last night. This time, it was Jonker getting to the wall first in 1:09.21 to Pickrem’s 1:09.93.

Mauro Castillo, a swimmer for the Texas A&M men’s squad, swam the 100 breast/100 fly double tonight. He won the 100 breast with a 1:03.39 over Tristen Disibio (1:04.46), giving him a successful sweep of the breaststroke events after his 200 breast win last night. Castillo then went on to win the B final in the 100 fly with a 56.06. Had he been in the A final, that time would’ve been good for 2nd behind Alvin Jiang, who won the event in 55.90.

Another good matchup saw Zachary Yeadon crack 4 minutes to win the men’s 400 freestyle, getting to the wall in 3:59.82. Just behind him for 2nd was Alexander Zettle with a 4:00.86.

Other Event Winners:

100 back: Juan Jose Rocha (57.44)

100 fly: Miriam Guevara (1:01.22)

400 free: Haley Yelle (4:16.29)
