Arizona Freestyle/Backstroke Specialist Ben Quon Commits to Xavier

Tempe, Arizona’s Ben Quon signed a NLI in the early period to swim for Xavier University’s class of 2022. He will suit up with Cothalee Watko, Elliot Steinberg, and Matt Geraghty next fall. Quon is freestyle and backstroke specialist who swims for Corona Del Sol High School and Rio Salado Swim Club. His older sister Karilyn Quon swims for Saint Francis University.

“I chose Xavier because the team and the school were super welcoming. Also, the balance between academics and swimming is the perfect fit for me. Thank you to my family, coaches, friends, and everyone who has helped me along the way. Let’s go X!”

Quon placed second in the 200 free at the 2017 Arizona High School Division I State Meet last November. He was also fourth in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.79. He capped his prep career with four consecutive MVP awards, and team records in the 500 free (4:35.12) and 400 free relay.

He was fifth in the 100m back at the Long Course Senior State Championships, where he notched PBs in the 50/100/200 free, 50/100 back, and 100 breast. At Santa Clara Futures he improved his times in the 400 free, 200 back, and 200 IM. In February, he went PBs in the 1000/1650 free, 200 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 200/400 IM.
