Arena signs American butterfly talent Felicia Lee

Global water instinct brand arena has signed a sponsorship deal with promising US butterfly and freestyle swimmer Felicia Lee. The 23-year-old was ranked the top US college female swimmer in the United States in 2014.

“I’m really stoked to be joining Team arena has we head towards an exciting year,” said Lee. “The arena staff has been tremendous not only in their support for me but also their belief in what I can do. From the arena employees, the team of athletes, to their gear…it’s all just the right fit. This is a team I want to be a part of and am proud to represent.”

Lee grew up in New Jersey and moved to Maryland in her early teens to train with coach Paul Yetter at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, where she also worked under Bob Bowman. At junior and senior high school she broke numerous National Age-Group Records, and won her first international title (100m butterfly) at the 2007 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii. Having made her national team debut in 2009, she won an athletic scholarship at Stanford University, where she competed from 2011-2014, winning the NCAA 100y butterfly title in 2014 – to add to her four NCAA relay titles – as well as the Honda Sports Award as the outstanding college female swimmer of the year. During her college career, Lee twice participated at the World University Games, winning relay medals on both occasions, including the freestyle relay gold in 2015. In 2014 she was a member of the silver-medal American 4×50 medley relay team at the World Short Course Championships in Doha – setting a new US record in the process – and in 2015 achieved her best-ever 100m butterfly finish at US Nationals, where she came in second.

In the lead-up to the US Olympic Trials in late June, Lee will be swimming in a number of the Arena Pro Swim Series meets, starting with Orlando from March 3-5. In January, she participated in 2016’s first meet in the arena-sponsored series, held in Austin. After Orlando, the series continues in Mesa (April), Charlotte (May), and Santa Clara and Indianapolis (both June).
