Anton Chupkov Selected for Forbes Russia’s 30 Under 30 List

Last month, Russian swimmer Anton Chupkov was selected as one of 100 finalists nominated for Forbes Russia’s annual 30 Under 30 list. Now, he has officially been selected to the list, falling under the “Sports and E-Sports category”.

The Forbes 30 Under 30 list is an annual publication aimed at identifying the most successful, wealthy, and influential people who are younger than 30. The publication selects three people from each of ten categories: entrepreneurs, finance and investment, management, sports and e-sports, science and technology, art, music, social practices, fashion and design, and new media. The selection process, according to Forbes, is based on “recognition in the community and personal competitiveness at the Russian or global level.”

Chupkov was joined in the “sports and e-sports” category by 21-year old e-sports competitor Cyril “Boombl4” Mikhailov and 16-year old figure skater Alena Kostornaya. Mikhailov is a renowned competitor in the online game CS:GO, while Kostornaya is the 2020 European champion in the Ladies’ Singles event in figure skating and also a national silver medalist.

Still only 23, Chupkov is the defending Olympic bronze medalist in the 200 breast, a race he swam while still only 19-years old. More recently he set the World Record in the same event at the 2019 World Championships in Gwanju, holding off the former co-record holders Ippei Watanabe and Matthew Wilson.

The first member of the Russian national team to be sponsored by Speedo, Chupkov was also selected to take part in Coca-Cola’s Olympic advertising campaign this year. Outside of competition he was recognized for his work in the Russian State Univeristy of Physical Culture as well as his work with the School of Swimming in Moscow.

Winners of the 30 Under 30 will be published in the June edition of the Forbes magazine.
