Another Israeli Record Goes Down as Andrea Murez Swims 200m Free PR

2015 EUROPEAN SHORT COURSE SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS AT THE WINGATE INSTITUTE IN NETANYA, ISRAEL

Andrea Murez of Israel takes down 4-year old 200m national record in the prelims of day 4 at the 2015 European Short Course Championships. She was born and raised in America but now represents Israel and has national records in both long course and short course meters.

After taking the long course 200m freestyle national record (1:59.03) this past summer, this morning Murez smashed the previous 4-year old record, finishing more than 2 seconds faster than Amit Ivry’s old record time of 1:58.61, done at the 2011 Israeli Winter Championships.

Murez’s splits in the prelims were as follows:

50m: 27.67

100m: 57.27 (29.60)

150m: 1:26.43 (29.16)

200m: 1:56.34 (29.91)

Murez went on to place 7th in the finals, touching the pads that afternoon just shy of her new record time in 1:56.52. So far this meet, she has set a new Israeli record in the 100m freestyle (52.88) and she will compete in the 50m freestyle, her final event in Netanya, tomorrow morning.
