Allison Fowler Named ODAC Swimmer Of The Week

Emory & Henry College freshman Allison Fowler has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the second time this season that an E&H swimmer has won the award and marks the first time in Fowler’s career.

Fowler led Emory & Henry to the Union College Winter Invitational title winning all seven events in which she swam. The Morristown, Tenn., native broke five individual school records and was part of four record-setting relays including the 200-yard freestyle relay, which went 1:36.96 to notch a new ODAC best time.

Fowler set individual school records in the 200-yard and 400-yard individual medley and twice broke the record in the 200-yard butterfly. Her lead-off swim in the 800-yard freestyle relay was good enough for a new best time in the 200-yard freestyle. In addition to the 200-yard freestyle relay, Fowler helped the Wasps to new records in the 400-yard medley relay, the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The only non-scholarship school in the field, E&H still won 13 of the 18 events and claimed first in all five of the relays. The Wasps set new program records in 14 different events with 22 overall swims coming in under record time.

Emory & Henry (6-0, 4-0 ODAC) has completed the fall portion of its schedule. The Wasps will take their annual winter training trip to Cocoa Beach, Florida during the first week of January before beginning the spring slate of their meets.
