Alicia Wilson, Jacob Peters Among New Names On British Olympic Roster

2021 BRITISH SWIMMING SELECTION TRIALS

Day 4 of the British Swimming Olympic Selection Trials rained personal bests and national records, as several key athletes’ names were added to the Tokyo roster which has been lengthening with each passing day of competition.

Tonight it was a duo of Scottish swimmers who notched national marks with Kathleen Dawson leading the way in the women’s 200m back. The once-injured Stirling star has fought her way back to form in a big way, adding this longer distance to the 100m back sprint for which she qualified earlier in the meet.

Notching her first qualifying time was former Arkansas swimmer Anna Hopkin who touched just behind winner Freya Anderson in the women’s 100m free. Following Hopkin and Anderson was Lucy Hope who nailed a new Scottish national record in the 1free event en route to building a case for a British women’s 400m free relay.

Additional qualifiers included brawny Ben Proud who clinched his berth with a world rankings-rattling time of 21.42 in the 50m free, while James Guy got his 2nd event of the 100m fly. Joining him was Jacob Peters, the 20-year-old, formerly of Poole and now out of Bath.

The women’s 200m IM was another event with two qualifiers, as Abbie Wood and Alicia Wilson got it done to bring the roster up to 23 for individual events.

And she could swim another 2 NCAA seasons if she wanted! Or maybe she’s going to go professional after posting up a time like that
