The Colorado State women’s swimming & diving team competed in Albquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, getting a mid-season test against a pair of Mountain West foes before taking a break from competition over the winter holiday season. CSU went up against New Mexico and Air Force, dropping results to both squads.

Sophomore Haley Rowley picked up a pair of victories in the tri-meet, winning the 200 butterfly (2:05.15) by four-tenths of a second and the 200 IM (2:05.71) by a similar margin.

Freshman Andrea Basile also swam well in the 200 IM, giving CSU two-thirds of the podium with a third-place finish (2:08.87).

Junior Katie Kicklighter picked up a pair of top finishes in short-distance freestyle events, placing second in the 50 free (23.80) and third in the 100 yard version (52.46). IN THEIR WORDS…
“Getting to compete in dual meet format against conference teams for the first time was a good test to see where we’re at. I saw some good things but I definitely saw a lot of areas that need to be improved upon. We’ve got some work to do and things to work on during winter training and before February but we’re heading in the right direction.” – Diving Coach Chelsea Popplewell’s thoughts on the meet

NEXT…
CSU will not return to competition until after the New Year. The Rams will head to San Diego on Jan. 7 for the USD Shootout, hosted by the University of San Diego. CSU will then host rival Wyoming on Jan. 21 at Moby Pool in the Rams’ next dual meet.
