Abbey Owenby Verbally Commits to Colorado State for 2018-19

Lone Tree, Colorado’s Abbey Owenby, a member of the Valor Christian High School class of 2018, has verbally committed to swim for Colorado State University beginning in the fall of 2018.

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Colorado State University!  CSU was an easy choice for me because of the incredible swim program they offer, the beautiful campus and a coaching staff I cannot wait to work with! GO RAMS!!!!”

Owenby is a CHSAA 4A state champion with the Valor Christian 400 free relay, which she anchored to victory at the 2017 Girls’ State Meet. She is also a four-time finalist individually, placing 2nd in the 500 free (5:06.76) / 7th in the 200 IM (2:09.77) as a sophomore, and 3rd in the 500 (5:07.11) / 5th in the 200 free (1:55.36) as a junior. She swims year-round with the club team Denver Swim Academy where she specializes in distance freestyle and IM. Owenby competed in the 5K race at the USA Swimming 2017 Women’s Open Water Junior National Championship in May, finishing 11th in 1:08:30.4.
