4 Nations Share Diving Gold in FINA Grand Prix

The 2015 FINA Diving Grand Prix’s last leg concluded this Sunday November 1 in Gold Coast, Australia, where the world’s finest divers delivered outstanding performances during the four-day competition.

Chinese dominance was broken with wins to Germany and Australia in synchro events and wins to Malaysia and Australia in the mixed events.

German divers and in particular Patrick Hausding stood out at this ultimate meet by winning both the men’s 3m and 10m synchro (396.12 in the 3m, 430.62 in the 10m).

Australia topped the 3m synchro (310.80) with Samantha Mills/Esther Qin as well as the mixed platform event with Nicholas Jeffree/Lara Travit. The pair had never dived together before Saturday. Malaysia’s Yan Yee Ng/ Muhammad Syafiq Puteh topped the mixed 3m event with 297.00 points.

China powerhouse still finished the competition on top of the leaderboard with five gold and three silver medals. Host nation Australia finished second with two gold, three silver and three bronze. Other nations on the podium this weekend were Canada and the USA.

The 2015 edition of the FINA Diving Grand Prix is now over after nine legs in four continents. It will resume with the 2016 edition in January with a first meet in Madrid (ESP) on January 1517.
