Luke Uttley, a junior at Trinity Preparatory School and swimmer for Trinity Prep Aquatics in Winter Park, FL, has made his college decision and announced that he plans to swim for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the fall of 2020. Primarily a sprinter, Uttley will bring a career-best 50 yard freestyle time to South Bend that is faster than Notre Dame’s fastest 50 freestyler at the 2019 ACC Championships.

Uttley was a Florida 1A State Champion this season in the 200-yard freestyle (1:37.86) and repeat champion in the 100-yard freestyle (44.87). At the 2019 Southern Premier Invitational, he took 6th place in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.81) and 7th place in the 100-yard freestyle (45.42).
Best Times in Yards:
- 50 free – 20.48
- 100 free – 44.64
- 200 free – 1:37.86
- 100 fly – 49.21
Uttley still has another year to improve on these times but is looking like he will be able to make an immediate impact at a school not typically known for churning out high-level sprinters. It took a 20.01 to qualify for the ‘C’ final in the 50-yard freestyle at the 2019 ACC Championships, 43.76 in the 100-yard freestyle, and 1:36.62 in the 200-yard freestyle. Currently, the only confirmed member of the Class of 2024 for the Fighting Irish is Sean Faikish, an all-around talent highlighted by a 55.43/2:02.07 in the breaststrokes.
