2018 Euros: Peaty Busts Meet Record With 3rd Fastest 50 Br Time Ever

British breaststroking maestro Adam Peaty logged yet another record at these 2018 European Championships, snagging the victory in the men’s 50m breaststroke tonight in Glasgow. He already set the meet record with his stellar 26.23 performance in the semi-final last night, but the 23-year-old dropped it even further to 26.09 en route to landing atop the podium in this evening’s final.

He and Italy’s Fabio Scozzoli represented the only swimmers under the 27-second threshold in the final, with the Italian notching 26.79 for silver. Slovenia’s Peter John Stevens wrapped up bronze in the sprint in a time of 27.06. For Peaty, his mark this evening checks-in as the 3rd fastest performance of all-time.

Peaty holds the World Record at 25.95 and now owns the 11 fastest performances ever in this event. He set the 100m breaststroke World Record at 57.10 earlier in these championships.
