  2. SILVER- Kristen Romano, LIAC 4:47.47
  3. BRONZE- Katie Glavinovich, AZOT 4:47.60

The most thrilling event of the night, without a doubt, was the 400 IM final. It ran the gamut of emotions, with the thrill of victory giving way to the agony of defeat, as dominant Olivia Carter of Enfinity Aquatic Club got DQd for a dolphin kick on the breaststroke.

Battling for second place behind Carter were Lindsay Looney of Metroplex Aquatics, Katie Glavinovich of Aquazot Swim Club, and, swimming in her home pool, Kristen Romano of Long Island Aquatic Club. The trio changed leads with each stroke. Looney’s 1:03.73 was the fastest 100 fly. Glavinovich was 1:11.8 on the back, and led at the 200 by 4/10 over Romano, who was another 4/10 in front of Looney. It was Romano’s turn on the breaststroke, as her 1:24.9 beat the others by 7/10. Turning at the breast-to-free wall, Roman had a 2/10 lead over Glavinovich and was fully 2 seconds in front of Looney. But Looney came up with a monstrous 100 free (1:02.7) and passed them both over the final 5 meters.

After the Olivia Carter DQ, Looney was the winner with 4:47.42, beating Romano by 5/100 and Glavinovich by 18:100.

In fourth place at the back-to-breast turn, Jake Foster of Mason Manta Rays blasted a 1:11.0 breaststroke leg. He made up 2 seconds on the lead pack over the first 50 and pulled ahead by over 3 seconds over the second 50. Foster came home in 1:00.47 to win with 4:19.40, 1.38 seconds faster than his prelims swim. That moved him up a spot to #4 on the all-time list for 15-16 boys.

Behind Foster, it was a battle for second between LeVant and Arroyo. LeVant got the touch with 4:22.11, with Arroyo taking third in 4:22.30. Urlando came in fourth with 4:24.60.

Austin’s Ella Collins was the fastest of the third legs, and anchor Quinn Schaedler took off within 16/100 of leader Lakeside. I guess Lasco is more a freestyler than backstroker now?

I agree with Tea Rex.
He’s far from his best in the 200 back this season but swims very well on freestyle. Especially in the 100 free. Lasco sprinter? I would have never thought that 2 or 3 years ago! 🙂

He is “more of” an amazing freestyler AND amazing backstroker now. Hopefully all of you people commenting on this board realize you are commenting about children.

Jake Foster swims the 400 IM like Chase K.

They both make a big move on the breaststroke. His breast split was 1:11.00.

He broke 4:20 tonight with his win (4:19.40). The breast and free split together was 2:11.47. Pretty good back half.
