Women’s 500-yard Freestyle – Final

Denison senior Campbell Costley was all alone for 400 yards, jumping out to a body-length lead early on and never letting up. The race was for second, with Illinois Wesleyan senior Meg Stanley, sophomores Hannah Orbach-Mandel and Marysol Arce of Kenyon, and Wash U junior Nicole Zanolli swimming in a line. Over the last 100 yards, Stanley began to inch up on Costley and as they sprinted toward the finish, Stanley got her hand on the wall just .05 ahead of Costley for the win.

Women’s 200-yard Individual Medley – Final

Williams senior Olivia Jackson held a body-length lead over the field through the backstroke, but the breaststroke specialists, led by NYU freshman Honore Collins, moved up on Jackson. By the 150 the race was between NYU freshman Collins, Jackson and Annelise Kowalsky of Emory. They finished in that order, with Collins leading the pack in 2:00.97.

Women’s 50-yard Freestyle – Final

Williams junior Emma Waddell pulled off an upset, touching out top-seeded Fiona Muir of Emory, 22.69 to 22.74, to win the women’s 50 free. Muir was runner-up last year to St. Thomas senior Emma Paulson, who finished third this time around with 23.09.

Women’s 3-meter Diving – Final

Wellesley junior Maura Sticco-Ivins avenged her second-place finish on the 3-meter board from 2016 with a winning 504.00 points a year later. She wound up 6.8 points ahead of Ithaca senior Nickie Griesemer (497.20), who had been the top qualifier out of prelims. Meghan Bartlett of SUNY Fredonia (481.05) finished third for the second year in a row.

Women’s 200-yard Medley Relay – Final

Emory led the field after the 50 back, but it was Denison who took over after the breaststroke leg. Emory regained the lead on the butterfly, and hold on through the freestyle for a 1:40.83 win over Denison 1:41.33. Williams was third with 1:41.60.

Cindy Cheng (25.30), Annelise Kowalsky (28.67), Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe (24.31), and Marissa Bergh (22.55) contributed to the Emory victory. Denison’s second-place quartet featured three freshmen (Casey Kirby, 25.94; Katherine Kustritz, 27.82; Angela Le, 24.66), and an anchor from senior Carolyn Kane (22.91). Williams, who nearly caught the leaders on Emma Waddell’s 22.26 anchor, also featured Olivia Jackson (26.21), Caroline White (28.68), and Maia Hare (24.45).

NYU was disqualified.
