The 2017 French Elite Long Course National Championships will kick off at the Centre Nautique de Schiltigheim in Strasbourg on Tuesday. After losing a good percentage of its national team (including Yannick Agnel, Coralie Balmy, Fabien Gilot, William Meynard, and Grégory Mallet) to retirement after the 2016 Olympic Games, and watching 2012 Olympic gold medalist and 2016 silver medalist Florent Manaudou take up professional handball, the French will be counting on Camille Lacourt, Mehdy Metella, Damien Joly, Jordan Pothain, Clément Mignon, Charlotte Bonnet, Mélanie Hénique, and Béryl Gastaldello to provide the star power. Keep an eye on up-and-comers Cyrielle Duhamel, Maxime Grousset and Alexandre Derache, who might surprise us with outsized performances.

No saved swimmers this year!
A good decision from the interim national director Laurent Guivarc’h!
You swim the required time in final, you go to Budapest.
If not, you stay at home.
Simple. No more drama like last year. The rule is the rule. The French roster for Budapest will be small but hopefully fewer tourists sent at the international meet.

World rankings are going to be rewritten this week….
More seriously I wonder why they have chosen to put these championships in late May. Either you do that in March/early April or you do that like in USA in late June/early July. Weird.

No official live stream like for British nationals unfortunately. Because of TV rights.
But you can google “Bein Sports France 1 live streaming”, “Bein Sports France 2 live streaming” or “Bein Sports France 3 live streaming” and you should find some links.
