By the 500 mark the other three middle lanes –Joy Field of Magnolia Aquatic Club, Madelyn Donohoe of The Fish, and Taylor Ault from La Mirada Armada- had caught her, and the four leaders turned together in 5:26-high to 5:27-low.

In their very last event of 2016 Speedo Junior Nationals in Minneapolis, Fort Collins Area Swim Team rocked a 4:08.39 to win the women’s 4×100 medley relay. In so doing they broke both the meet record and the girls 15-16 national age group record. With a team that consisted of Bayley Stewart (16), Zoe Bartel (15), Coleen Gillilan (15), and Kylee Alons (16), Fort Collins swam 4:08.39, taking 28/100 off a Speedo Junior Nationals meet record of 4:08.67 that had been set by Aquajets Swim Team in 2009. The Fort Collins quartet also took a huge, 3-second chunk out of the 4:11.39 NAG record for 15-16 girls. That mark also belonged to Aquajets, but dated from Speedo Juniors in August of 2013.

Carmel Swim Club finished second in 4:13.17 with Sammie Burchill, Grace Estabrook, Trude Rothrock, and Kelly Pash. Aquajets Swim Team, featuring Carly Quast, Madison Preiss, Raime Jones, and Rachel Wittmer, placed third in 4:16.09.
