Despite a day’s worth of controversy last month surrounding the possibility of the 2015 European Short Course Swimming Championships changing location from its scheduled site of Netanya, Israel, LEN President Paolo Barelly confirmed that the city would indeed remain as host.

As such, organizers are making the final preparations for the international event now just one month out from the December 2nd -6th timeframe. As of today, 48 nations have submitted preliminary entries for the meet and tickets went on sale to the public late last month.

Just this past week, LEN representatives visited Netanya’s Wingate Institute as a final site visit, partaking in inspections and discussions with the Israeli hosts ensuring that the facilities meet all the demands in the key areas. According to LEN Sports & Office Manager Marco Birri, “The venue at the Wingate Institute is a great site for our championships. It’s 10-lane pool is regarded one of the fastest with its 3m depth and the warm-up facilities can also accommodate the record number of delegations. The organisers are taking care every little detail both at the venue and all participants’ accommodation and transport.”

For the first time in the history of the European Championships, the meet will span 5 days.  Heats are scheduled to being at 9:30am local time, with semis/finals scheudled for 5:30pm local time.
