#15 Alexis Margett Hands Verbal Commitment to Michigan

The #15 recruit on our list of the top 20 girls in the high school class of 2017, Alexis Margett, has opted to swim for the University of Michigan for the next four years. Glendora, California-based Margett is one of the top sprint butterfliers in the class. She had a stellar junior year at Glendora High School, winning both the 200 IM and 100 fly at CIF-Southern Section Division II Championships, and setting the D2 record in the latter with a prelims swim of 52.59. Margett went on to the California State Meet the next weekend and set the meet record in the 100 fly with 52.77; she was runner-up in the 200 IM with a lifetime-best 1:59.78.

Margett swims year-round for Brea Aquatics. She finished fourth in the 100m fly and 13th in the200m fly at 2016 Speedo Summer Juniors. She also finaled in the 200m breast. Margett has improved quite a bit in her 200 IMs this year (-2 in SCY and -3 in LCM), giving her more arrows in the quiver for college swimming.
