    Don’t forget dagny knutson!!

  2. bobo gigi says:

Great meet to come! Another nights in front of the computer screen!
Well, Missy Franklin, Ryan Lochte, Katie Ledecky and the others! Great casting!

A few questions before this meet.
Why like at the French championships are there foreign swimmers in these American short course nationals? There’s even a French swimmer with Justine Ress. Last year Yannick Agnel and Camille Muffat were American champions. It’s always weird for me.
Who will be well rested? Who will be not rested? I presume the swimmers who don’t go to the short course world championships are not rested and the others are well rested.
Where are the NBAC swimmers like Allison Schmitt and Gillian Ryan?

A few predictions before this meet.
Some American records are in jeopardy. Missy can break the 200 free and the 200 back records. Katie Ledecky can break the 500 free and the 1650 free records. Nathan Adrian, if he has trained very well since London, can break the 50 free and the 100 free records.

Ryan Lochte will probably make Ryan Lochte but perhaps in better. He hasn’t trained very much since London and last time in Minneapolis he was faster and he looked much less tired than usual in a training meet. So perhaps good times to come from him.
I will follow Kevin Cordes and Jasmine Tosky before Istanbul I think they can make big damages there.
I will watch some of the best young and very young American swimmers like Gunnar Bentz, Chase Kalisz, Evan Pinion, Olivia Smoliga or Isabella Rongione.
About Ryan Murphy, I don’t know what to expect. It’s tough to swim at best 3 weeks ago and now. His coach knows what to do and he must be prepared for Istanbul.
And I will continue to cheer on Dagny Knutson who is back in the water.

    • Coach GB says:

It has always been that swimmers can be in Nationals from any country. In 1949 Furahashi set his world
Records in LA Olympic Pool. Since the late 40′s other countries swimmers have been in American university’s. it has been we will swim anyone. The only difference made is if the meet is also a trials the they cannot be in the finals.

    • bobo gigi says:

Excuse me swimswam readers. I had forgotten that Allison Schmitt was back in NCAA with Georgia. That’s why she isn’t at these nationals.

  3. bobo gigi says:

Why isn’t Kristen Vredeveld in this meet? She trains at the Baylor Swim Club so if my American geography is good it’s not very far from Austin. She could have swum very fast times against top sprinters. Perhaps she goes to the junior mationals next week.
I’ve forgotten to mention Simone Manuel and Lia Neal in the young swimmers to watch. Clay Youngquist is a Texas swimmer so at home he could swim fast times.
Oh My God! Like you say in USA! There are too many great swimmers to watch in these USA short course nationals.

  4. Josh says:

Conor Dwyer and Arkady Vyatchanin are on the heat sheet as well

  5. Mirabella76 says:

I saw Ricky Berence and Matt Grevers in psyche sheet as well. Why they weren’t mentioned, they won’t swim?

  6. bobby says:

Clark burckle and davis tarwater are on notable list but not Olympic list

  7. Robin says:

Christine Magnuson is an Olympian too. 18?

  8. Robin says:

Actually, so is Kim Vandenberg. 19.

  9. Coach says:

Give Braden a break. With a psych sheet like this and so many top swimmers not having SCY meets in the small qualifying window, it’s easy to miss people seeded in the 50s or 60s.

  10. NATSROCK says:

Olympians all over the place – Tyler McGill is #68 seed in the 100Y Fly – don’t miss those early heats!

  11. jeantuehl says:

I’m putting my money on De Lucca in the 100 and 200 Free.

    • Good Sport says:

You will lose your money to one of the numerous olympians in the 100 and to a non-notable in the 200.

      • Braden Keith Braden Keith says:

I’m guessing De Lucca will be back in training as well; afterall Louisville had their rest meet. This will be a Portuguese meet for him, not a Louisville meet, per se.

        • jeantuehl says:

You’re likely right. He must have been rested for the Purdue Invite. I’ll save my money, but I still believe this will be an off-year for the male Olympians.

          • DDias says:

Well, if what was told about DeLucca doing 49´s in LCM in briefs before Olympics(what made brazlian coaches looks like morons leaving him out of relay…), he is gonna be very good next year.
Right now, i put him in third place for NCAA 100yard next year, behind Morozov and Chieriguini.

      • Rafael says:

with Adrian and Lotche.. hard for him, maybe 3rd place on both.. but I Think he could put up a fight with Feigen..

  12. WHOKNOWS says:

Looks like Juniors will be a big meet… maybe. Not many 18 and unders entered in Texas. There are so many standard meets across the country… most swimmers probably staying close to home.

    • Coach says:

No bonus cuts, no time trials for relay kids, and very fast time standards makes this a difficult trip for 18 and under club teams. After looking at Grand Prix cuts, I’m seeing a pattern.

      • Coach GB says:

Those are the reasons that there will be less 18 & unders will be less as more older swimmers continue to swim a sign of the times. Also different then in the past is that you can go to Jrs with a national cut and you can then swim more events. The old system had you going to both meets to get in your best event.

  13. cynthia. curran says:

Well, I swam in the old La Pool, there was a odd warm up pool.

  14. egc says:

What about Mr. Adam Mania and Steve Cebertowicz representing DBS?!

  15. jeantuehl says:

I was almost right about De Lucca winning the 200 Free. 1:32.57 for 2nd place. Not too shabby.
