Wins for Croatia, Montenegro, Greece in Water Polo World League

Hungary, Greece, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Italy were the winning teams of the inaugural European round of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League 2016, held on October 20, 2015 in various European cities.

In Szolnok (HUN), the Hungarian squad (Group A) defeated Georgia 17-10, while World bronze medallist Greece wrapped up a comfortable win over Romania, winning 17-3 on Tuesday evening in Athens.

In Group B, World and World League champions Serbia beat a defensive France at home (12-9) and Montenegro defeated Spain 11-6 in Herceg Novi (MNE).

The Croatian team proved too strong for the Turkish squad and won easily (19-6) in home soil in Group C while the Italians visiting Moscow beat Russia 16-11.

The composition of the European Groups of the 2016 Men’s World League is as follows:

Group A: Hungary, Greece, Romania, Georgia
Group B: Serbia, Montenegro, Spain, France
Group C: Croatia, Italy, Russia, Turkey

Provisional rankings:
GROUP A: HUN 3 pts (1W); GRE 3 (1W); GEO 0 (1L); ROU 0 (1L)
GROUP B: SRB 3 pts (1W); MNE 3 (1W); FRA 0 (1L); ESP 0 (1L)
GROUP C: CRO 3 pts (1W); ITA 3 (1W); TUR 0 (1L); RUS 0 (1L)
