West Virginia University Swimming Welcomes 21 to Incoming Class

West Virginia University swimming and diving coach Vic Riggs announced today the addition of 21 student-athletes as part of the 2014-15 incoming recruiting class.

“We are very pleased with the 2014 incoming class,” said Riggs. “With this incoming class, we have added strength to some events and have addressed some of our depth areas. Several of them will have the opportunity to have an immediate impact both in and out of the water.”

The class includes 13 additions to the men’s roster and eight to the women’s. The four recruits from Colorado are the most from any state. The women’s squad added two international recruits – one from Spain and France.

“We have stressed recruiting character, commitment and the desire to make our program better, and each of these future Mountaineer student-athletes possess those qualities,” Riggs said. “Not only are they strong athletes, but they excel in the classroom as well. I look forward to integrating them into an already young and talent 2014-15 team.”

There are a total of 17 swimmers included in the class, to go with four divers.

“Coach Mike Grapner continues to build the diving program by adding four very talented young men,” Riggs said. “I’m sure over the next four years our men’s diving program will be on par with where our women’s team is now.”
