Watch Kajetan Zaluski Swim a 50 Free Backwards, With No Breaths

Katejan Zaluski is a former world-class swimmer from Poland. He’s been 22.29 in the 50m freestyle and 49.9 in the 100m freestyle.

Swimming backward, though, two years after he did his last real training, he might have achieved his greatest level of fame yet.

The 26-year old Zaluski posted a video on his YouTube channel two weeks ago of him swimming a 50 crawl (freestyle), backwards, in a 25m pool, with no breathing. It’s pretty clear that this is not simply a forwards swim rewound, based on his technique, but is pretty impressive. It includes a backward flipturn, and by my watch he pulled it off in about a 1:08.4 – which is much more impressive than it sounds like.
