Vladimir Putin Attends World Aquatics Championships Opening Ceremonies

The 2015 FINA World Aquatics Championships officially opened on Friday, July 24th in Kazan, Russia with a ceremony in the modified hockey TafNeft Arena.

The event will host 6,500 athletes from 190 nations across FINA’s six disciplines: swimming, open water swimming, diving, high diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming, and runs through August 9th.

Among the attendees of the show was Russian president Vladimir Putin, a controversial but powerful head of state in Russia who was awarded the FINA Order earlier this year for his contributions to aquatic sport in the country.

See below the photographs of the event, taken by Simone Castrovillari.

Correction. I’ve just realized that Eurosport france has not the TV rights anymore for these world championships. 🙄
But the Americans who complain about their TV coverage can look for Eurosport GB links on the web and they will watch all prelims and finals live.

DEE, you mentioned ” ultraconservative gay hating individual”
I didn’t know what you meant by that so I assumed you meant someone who doesn’t support gay marriage as opposed to someone or a group ie ISIS, who actually wants to kill gays.

I also don,t care at all about gay marriage or any type of marriage at all. I,m disillusioned about marriage due to the the high divorce rates in the US.

I meant so people who don,t agree with gay marriage are the same with ISIS who actually kills gays in iraq according to you.
We have homophobia. Now people who don,t agree with the transgender lifestyle are already being called transphobes. but then I,ve always wondered if it,s only conservatives that disagree with the transgender lifestyle. That is pumping hormones either into kids or teenagers. medically it can lead to sterility. Now we have gender realignment surgery. Now if you read some stuff on the internet, a lot of people call ” gender realignment surgery” genital mutilation. I don,t know if these folks are conservatives or liberal.

DEE, you have a problem with ultra conservatives. What about ultra liberals?… Read more »

so if an ultraconservative gay hating individual wanted to buy an item from a gay owned store, so they would have to be served.
Now I get it, so an individual who doesn’t agree with gay marriage is an ultra conservative gay hating individual. According to you every individual who doesn’t support gay marriage hates gays so much that they would like to kill them the way ISIS throws gays off buildings in Iraq. So people who don,t agrer with gay marriage are the same with ISIS who actually kills gays in Iraq.according to you, I mean
I,ve never said what russia does with their gay community is right. read my post, I said Russia needs a democracy… Read more »

You have just spouted so much rubbish full of baseless presumptions and shown yourself up as the troll you are. Your obsession with equal marriage is your obsession, I have not mentioned it once. Feel free to have you childish little agenda, but don’t put words into my mouth, make unfounded presumptions or distort my words to suit yourself.

I don’t care about gay marriage, I say that as a gay person, I don’t care about opposition to it either, there are far bigger issues within society. It has happened, move on now, ‘Carlo’.

“If Russia is anti-gay, America is anti-Christian”

Those were your words. I didn’t say you condoned the treatment of gays in Russia. I merely showed the blaring inaccuracies in your argument with a few pieces of factual evidence.

How did they arrive at the 6,500 athlete number? Seems a tad inflated. Does someone want to break this down.

You have to take into account Water Polo, Diving, Synchronised Swimming, Open Water etc… Still seems high though!
