VIDEO of Lindsey Engel Breaking Dara Torres’ 50 Free High School Record

We’ve tracked down some bootlegged footage of Crean Lutheran junior Lindsey Engel breaking Dara Torres’ 1985 CIF Southern Section Division 3 Record in prelims (she broke it again in finals). From the report by Garrett McCaffrey:

Crean Lutheran Junior, Lindsey Engel clocked a winning time of 22.56 in the prelims of the 50 yard freestyle, securing the top seed by nearly 2 seconds and taking one of the most legendary swimming names off the top of the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section D3 record list. Dara Torres’ 22.69 was set in 1985. Engel also broke the CIF SS D3 record in the 100 free with a :49.06, earning the top spot going into tomorrow’s finals.

She has very good underwaters for a sprint freestyler. That bodes very well for her college career.
