Video Interview: Tyler Clary “Put Up His Sails” To Win The 200 Butterfly

Tyler Clary won two events this weekend, the 400 IM and the 200 butterfly. He is still adjusting to his new coach David Marsh, but is learning alot and making adjustments to his strokes everyday. His underwaters have been a big focus, and they really helped him finish his races this weekend.

Men’s 400 IM – Finals

Tyler Clary put it on the line to win the 400 IM tonight. It was interesting to hear Michael Phelps’ commentary during this race while he was speaking with Rowdy Gaines. Clary finished with a 4:19.00. Conor Dwyer finished in second with a time of 4:22.26. His freestyle events have become a big focus for him, but Clary was too far to pull back in. Austria’s Jakub Maly posted a 4:23.93 to finish in third place and Michael Weiss finished fourth at 4:27.22.

Men’s 200 Butterfly – Finals

Tom Luchsinger had a solid first 150m, but it was Tyler Clary who ran down the field to take the win. Clary touched out Luchsinger by .01, finishing with a final time of 2:00.39 to Luchsinger’s 2:00.40. Bobby Bollier was another swimmer with a great back half, he finished third with a 2:00.54.
