VIDEO INTERVIEW: Teri McKeever coaches for more than trophies

Cal coach Teri McKeever caught up with SwimSwam to recount her Golden Bear women’s 3rd place run this weekend, and to share a little more on her goals as a coach. Check out the video above to hear McKeever explain what she finds rewarding about coaching college athletes specifically, and her feelings about the weekend’s results.

Very healthy approach and philosophy that she has taken. I hope Teri can win a couple more trophies to validate the long term balance that she brings to the sport. Many swim observers will agree that the times, place and outcome of this year’s Cal team did not meet the expectations along with the talent that was expected of the 2013-14 Cal Bears. However, hopefully an internal examination can occur for some of the female swimmers in Berkeley and the outcomes can improve in future years. Georgia and Stanford did a phenomenal job this year and their programs have a consistent record of producing great swimmers and student athletes.
