Update: Missy Franklin Will Swim the 200 Free on Thursday Morning, Then Evaluate For 100 Back Prelims

In a last-minute update before the start of the 2014 Pan Pac Championships at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in Southport, Australia, American superstar Missy Franklin will swim the 200 free, and then will evaluate her fitness before the 100 backstroke later in the session.

Franklin’s status has been uncertain over the last 24 hours, after she suffered back spasms during a pre-meet training session that left her in a lot of pain.

Franklin’s statements have indicated that her condition has continued to improve. She is scheduled to swim a total of 7 different events at this meet, with a maximum possible 11 swims over the next four days.

UPDATE: Franklin failed to make the A Final of the women’s 200 free, but is in the ready room to swim her 100 backstroke.
