UIC Continues Strong In-State Recruitment With a Commitment from Lexie Joy

Lexie Joy of the Freeport Aquatic Swim Team and Freeport High School in northwest Illinois has committed to the University of Illinois – Chicago Flames.

Joy will have a significant and immediate impact upon the Flames at the conference level, and should be able to contribute on almost any leg of any relay. In yards, here best times are:

  • 50 free – 24.65
  • 100 free – 52.61
  • 200 free – 1:51.66
  • 100 back – 58.22
  • 200 back – 2:05.83
  • 100 breast – 1:09.78
  • 100 fly – 58.26
  • 200 IM – 2:10.35

Last year, Joy’s best times would have scored in the 100 free, 200 back and 100 fly,  and the A-final in the 200 free, among other events. She should immediately become the team’s top 200 freestyler and impact the 800 free relay by at least four seconds, and will be one of the team’s best in the sprint frees from day one as well.

UIC hired a new head coach, Tim Loeffler, prior to the start of this season. Loeffler is a Chicago native, and this addition will continue the program’s strong tradition of recruiting well within the home state – and Joy is one of the better commitments the team has earned under the current or prior administrations.
