TYR Sport Sponsors Coaching Trailblazer Rachel Stratton-Mills

Excellent coaching is vital to swimming’s advancement as a sport, which is why TYR Sport is proud to support Rachel Stratton-Mills, head coach of the Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (AGUA) Swim Team.

The AGUA Swim Team is Manhattan’s premier competitive swimming team and one of the top teams in the Northeast. It is comprised of over 200 people of all ages and skill levels, who hail from all five NY boroughs and northern New Jersey. Since 2010, Rachel has worked hard to hone each of her swimmer’s technical skills, character and level of dedication, all of which helps build strong work ethics inside and outside of the pool.

As a result of her hard work, Rachel’s swimmers have broken Metro records, National Age Group records and more. Most impressively, Rachel was one of only three female coaches to put an athlete on the 2012 U.S. Olympic swim team, in the form of 17-year-old Brooklynite Lia Neal. The young swimmer went on to make her coach proud by winning the Olympic Bronze medal in the 400-meter freestyle relay. Neal also became the second African-American female swimmer in history to make an Olympic swim team.

TYR is excited to see Rachel continue to produce trailblazers and champions; TYR is also proud to support Asphalt Green and the New York City swimming community as a whole.
