Trinity Prep Break National High School Records at Florida Invite

The girls of Trinity Prep High School in Winter Park, Florida have broken a pair of National High School Records in short course meters.

The girls’ team spent Friday evening racing a dual meet against Montiverde Academy with Montiverde’s pool set up in short course meters format, and were able to take advantage of the less-common high school course to break two Independent National High School Records.

First, junior Claire Maiocco swam a 1:01.06 in the 100 short course meter butterfly. That breaks a 2003 record set by Elizabeth Hill of Westminster Schools in Atlanta. Hill did her swim on December 3rd, 2003. For a yards record, 12 years would be anctient, however the short course meter marks all are rather old – before Friday, the most recently broken records came in 2008.

One of those 7-years-young marks was also broken on Friday, when Grace OlivardiaCaroline White, Maiocco, and Summer Heidish combined for a 1:46.98 in the 200 meter free relay This time, they broke a record held by the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who in 2008 swam a 1:48.33 with a relay that included Sloane Pitman, Sarah List, Keely Lusk, and Arden Pitman.

Of the four swimmers, only White is a senior. Maiocco is a junior, while Heidish and Olivardia are sophomores.
