Towson Tigers Look To Add To Win to Total at Georgetown

The Towson University men’s swimming and diving team will look to remain undefeated as it matches up against Georgetown and William & Mary on Saturday. The meet, held in Washington, D.C., will begin at 1 p.m.

“I am excited to see how our men perform against some tough competition,” Tiger head coach Pat Mead said. “This meet will give us an indication of our team’s character and toughness. I am confident they will step up to the challenge.”

The Tigers (2-0) opened the dual meet season last weekend by defeating Howard University and Hood College at Burdick Pool. The meet gave the freshmen on the team a chance to compete at the collegiate level for the first time. First-year performers Nick BreschiRyan Paisley and Brandon Ress all had outstanding debuts for Towson.
Breschi won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.58 and swimming a leg in Towson’s winning 200-yard medley relay. Billy PappasZach Brech and Matt Collingwood teamed up for a time 1:37.43 to win the event by over 3.5 seconds.
Paisley won the 50-yard freestyle (time of 22.01) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.72), while Ress was very good in the 1,000-yard freestyle, timing 9:34.87 and winning the event by over seven seconds.
Senior diver Alex Cohen earned the Colonial Athletic Association’s Men’s Diver of the Week award after scoring 296.25 points in the three-meter diving competition and 271.50 points in the one-meter event last weekend.
