SwimSwam Film Fest: The World’s Largest Swimming Pool

I’m a swim film festival fan, and I love this short swim video, Big Pool, the World’s Largest Swimming Pool, captured by Nicolás Rupcich and Emilio Marín.

Open water swimmers belong in this enormous tank, really a man-made lagoon, filled with 66 million gallons of pristine seawater. It’s in Algarrobo, Chile at the San Alfonso del Mar resort, and it’s more than three fifths of a mile, or 20 Olympic-sized pools set end to end.

I am always on the lookout for great swim videos. If you have an interesting or beautiful swimming-related video, please submit to Gold Medal Mel Stewart at swimswam to be featured. We appreciate all points of view on pools, lakes, rivers and oceans. Please include a little background on why you captured the video and the equipment you used (cameras, lens, editing software, etc.). Feel free to add your own story as well.
