Swimming Australia Reschedules 2015 Short Course Championships

Swimming Australia has rescheduled its 2015 Australian Short Course Swimming Championships as a result of the changed FINA World Cup Series schedule that was announced last week.

Swimming Australia has moved the meet from November 5th-7th to November 26th-28th, citing two reasons:

  • FINA recently notified changes to their schedule creating a conflict of our previous event dates with their World Cup schedule
  • Feedback from State Swimming Associations in regards to School and University exam date conflicts

The meet will remain at Sydney’s SOPAC pool.

The full announcement is below:

The 2015 Hancock Prospecting Australian Short Course Swimming Championships has been changed to the following dates:

Pre-Meet:            Tuesday 24th – Wednesday 25th November 2015

Competition:      Thursday 26th – Saturday 28th November 2015

The decision to move the event has been made due to the following reasons:

  1. FINA recently notified changes to their schedule creating a conflict of our previous event dates with their World Cup schedule
  2. Feedback from State Swimming Associations in regards to School and University exam date conflicts

Swimming Australia understands that the above date change will conflict with some state and school carnivals. These conflicts have been taken into consideration and will inflict minimal impact on participants across all events.

Swimming Australia will not ask for these events to be moved due to the change.
