Stephanie Rice moves to Los Angeles, launching eBook, retreat series and more

Retired Australian triple-Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Rice is launching the next phase of her career from Los Angeles, focusing on holistic health and all-around well-being.

Rice, just 26 and still one of the biggest swimming celebrities in Australia, moved to the United States earlier this year to focus on her new out-of-the-pool endeavors.

“I came to L.A. at the start of the year, near the end of January,” Rice said. She found an apartment and organized her living arrangements, then returned home for a few months, “to pack up my life and move here,” she said this week.

Rice has now been officially planted in L.A. for only a few weeks, but is already plugging back in to the sport she loves in her new home.

“Right now, I’ve been doing a lot with swimming,” she said, mentioning private lessons, swim clinics and other coaching endeavors.

“I love it so much here,” she said. “I’ve been blessed with people who are really eager to get better and it’s a great opportunity to give back.”

But the ultimate goal for Rice is to expand her reach beyond the pool. The former IM sensation is launching a new eBook, titled “The Art of Wellness” that she says should be releasing this summer. The book, not surprisingly, focuses on health and fitness.

In addition, Rice is setting up opportunities to work with people directly, through a series of personal retreats.

“The first one is all set for the middle of July,” Rice said. “It’s aimed at mentoring girls who are just finishing high school, helping them learn more about themselves and what they want to do.”

That first retreat will take place back in the Land Down Under, on the Gold Coast of Australia. Rice, who is from Queensland originally, said the retreat will be a great chance for her to get back to her old stomping grounds for a spell.

Fans who want to keep up with all of Rice’s plans can check out her website, stephanierice.com.au, and Rice says those interested in private lessons or clinics can contact her at [email protected].
