Samantha Palma Named Assistant Coach At Ashland University

Ashland University has named Samantha Palma as an assistant swimming and diving coach. Palma joins first-year head coach Derick Roe on the AU coaching staff.

            Palma comes to AU from Division I Canisius in Buffalo, N.Y. She’s coached at Canisius since 2011 and has been active in recruiting and in the coaching and development of the sprint program.

            Palma also has experience as a Lead Blue Level Coach with the Town Wreckers Swim Team. She’s been involved with that organization for two years. She has also served as an assistant pool manager and coach with the Eagle Ridge Recreation Association.

            The new AU assistant coach was a member of the swimming team at the University of Buffalo from 2006-10. She was a conference finalist and a USA Swimming national qualifier. Palma was also a member of the Mid-America Conference All-Academic Team and was a Scholar-Athlete at Buffalo. She is a 2010 graduate, earning a bachelor’s degree in history. She earned her master’s degree in history from Buffalo in 2012.

            While she was at Buffalo, Palma was also a member of the rowing team. She was named to the All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team.

            At Ashland, Palma will be active in all aspects of the swimming and diving program, including recruiting, practice preparation and meet organization.
