Ryan Lochte Will Play a Sex Idol on 30 Rock with Tina Fey

11-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte will play a sex idol opposite Tina Fey on NBC’s hit half-hour sitcom 30 Rock.

This isn’t breaking news, but USA Today did have some fun with the topic, reporting that on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards, Fey described Lochte’s role as against-type — against the jeah spouting, laid-back guy that he is — that he’ll portray a top biochemist Liz accidentally runs into at a Mensa meeting. The major media outlet was kidding; however, they had me going. It certainly sounded like something Fey would do.

So, Ryan’s playing a sex idol.  That’s how Fey actually described it to E!,

“He played — if I may use this term on television — a sex idol…. He was good at it.”

Lochte’s been making the media-rounds since his star-turning performance at the 2012 London Olympics. His manager, Erica Wright, did say that he’d be returning to the pool shortly, though it appears Lochte’s continuing to invest his time in Hollywood. The confirmation we’re looking for is whether or not he will be training with Trojan Swim Club going forward given his entertainment endeavors.

Stay tuned…
