Pool Record for Kalnins as Mo State Handles Evansville

The Missouri State Bears hosted the Evansville Aces today, easily handing their Missouri Valley (women) and Mid-America (men) conference foes 152-77 and 152-84 respectively.  The MSU women posted the winning time in all thirteen events, while the men won all but 1-meter and 3-meter diving.

The highlight of the night was Uvis Kalnins’ 55.78 Hammons Student Center Record in the 100 breaststroke.  He was followed closely by second place teammate Artur Osvath at 56.55.  Kalnins also won the 100 fly in 49.80 later in the meet.

In the men’s meet, Brenden Bolman was also a double event winner, taking the 50 free in 21.65 and the 100 back in 53.10.  Despite not taking the winning time the 50 free was a strong event for Evansville, with Purple Aces Matt Duke, Everett Plocek and Matt Childress taking points for second, third and fourth places.

The Lady Bears had three double event winners, with freshman Josie Pearson leading the pack.  Her times in the 100 fly (57.97) and 200 IM (2:07.38) were each over four seconds ahead of the next competitor.  Hope Ernhart took both sprints with 24.52 in the 50 free and 54.22 in the 100, while diver Nina Privitera scored 242.27 and 217.65 to take the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

Evansville captured first in both men’s diving events with Miguel Marcano topping the 1-meter at 239.32 and Cory Barnes the 3-meter at 244.42.

Next the Bears face Missouri Valley and Mid-America Conference rivals, the Southern Illinois Saluki’s at home on October 10th.
