Pennsylvania High School Coach Admits to Child Pornography

Former Lancaster, Pennsylvania high school diving coach, Patrick Fatta, has admitted to molesting a girl and possessing child pornography, in an update to a case reported in November 2014.

According to ABC27.com, Fatta was working primarily as a diving coach at Hempfield High School and Manheim Township High School in 2014 when Lancaster County’s computer crimes unit were led to his home.  The unit had been tracking downloads from a known child pornography site and followed the trail to the 42-year-old’s computer, where multiple images and videos of child pornography, none of which were of any of his student-athletes, were found. As a result, Fatta was placed under house arrest and charged with three felony counts of child pornography.

At the time of his arrest, an affidavit revealed Fatta told police he “had been viewing child pornography for years and ‘has a problem.” Fatta now concedes that he sexually assaulted a girl at his Lancaster home between 2009 and 2013 and is set to be sentenced later this year.

School officials said that Fatta had passed all criminal background checks at the time of his hiring. He was himself a Hempfield graduate (1990) and in 2010 was inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame.  Fatta had coached for approximately four years.
