Silver’s duties will include social media, sports marketing and PR for all of the online brands. Prior to SwimOutlet, Silver spent two years at USA Swimming as Athlete Relations Manager, where she oversaw relations with U.S. national team members and also managed the USA Swimming Family Program at the 2012 London Games.

She will report to another recent SwimOutlet hire, Rob Penner, VP of Sports Marketing & PR, who is a 15-year veteran in sports communications having worked at PUMA, NBC Olympics and the ATP men’s tennis tour during his career.

“We’re excited to have someone with Emily’s background and competitive experience on-board at SwimOutlet,” said Penner. “Having a team member who has achieved swimming success at the highest international levels and knows the sport inside-and-out will be a big asset to our marketing efforts.”

Silver won a silver medal as a member of the 4×100 meter freestyle relay team at the Beijing Olympics just weeks after breaking her hand during the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in one of the more impressive comebacks from injury in the pool in recent memory.

With the new role, she will return to the Bay Area where she graduated from the University of California and was a 20-time college All-American and team co-captain. Silver is also active in Yoga and has worked for lululemon in the past, which should be a boost to Spiraledge’s new YogaOutlet.com venture.
