North Carolina Non-Coach Added to USA Swimming’s List of Banned Individuals

Patrick Vandenberg has been added to USA Swimming’s public list of Individuals Permanently Suspended or Ineligible, with a ban effective date of June 11th, 2015.

Vandenberg was banned under two sections of USA Swimming’s Code of Conduct, neither of which are very specific on the offense.

304.3.15 Any act of fraud, deception or dishonesty in connection with any USA Swimming-related activity.

304.3.6 Conviction of, imposition of a deferred sentence for, or any plea of guilty or no contest at any time, past or present, or the existence of any pending charges, for (i) any felony, (ii) any offense involving use, possession, distribution or intent to distribute illegal drugs or substances, (iii) any crime involving sexual misconduct, or (iv) any criminal offense against a minor.

Vandenberg’s LinkedIn profile does not indicate that he has any history as a swim coach, and multiple sources have verified that his primary role was as a swim parent.
