Bayville, New Jersey backstroker and sprint freestyler, Corinne Mahoney, has given her verbal commitment to Wingate University for 2016-17. Mahoney swims for Central Regional High School and Ocean County YMCA in New Jersey. She is a multi-time YMCA Nationals qualifier and her best times are:

  SCY LCM
50 free 24.37 28.34
100 free 53.79 1:02.70
50 back 28.30 31.40
100 back 58.41 1:08.95
200 back 2:07.58 2:31.72

Wingate finished second to eventual NCAA Division II champions Queens University of Charlotte at the 2015 Bluegrass Mountain Championships. The Bulldogs went on to place third at NCAAs behind Queens and Drury. Mahoney will add immediate punch to Wingate’s lineup with her times in the 50 free, 100 back, and 200 back, all of which would have scored in the “B” finals at conference.

Mahoney will have a strong training group waiting for her at Wingate. While the Bulldogs have excellent depth across the board, they are particularly strong in sprint free and backstroke. Mahoney will cross paths for her first year with top backstroke scorer Vika Arkhipova.
