Berwyn, Pennsylvania’s Emily Cornell has made a verbal commitment to swim at the University of South Carolina for the 2016-2017 season. Cornell said “I am so excited to be joining this program!  After meeting the coaches and bonding with the team, I knew this was the place for me.”

Cornell, a senior at Villa Maria Academy and club swimmer at Suburban Seahawks, has represented Villa at Pennsylvania high school state meet for 3 consecutive years. At the 2015 PIAA Girls AA Championships, Cornell finished second in the 100 back and earned three first-place medals as a member of Villa’s three relays. Their 200 medley relay broke the PIAA record, thanks in part to Cornell’s 26.06 leadoff.

During long course season, Cornell was a “B” finalist at NCSA Junior Nationals in the 50m back, 100m back, and 200m back. Her best times are:

  SCY LCM
50 free 24.13 27.88
