NAIA’s Nathan Lethbridge and Lisa Tixier Earn National Swimmer of the Month Honors

Nathan Lethbridge Takes First Award of 2015

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nathan Lethbridge of Union (Ky.) has been named the NAIA Men’s Swimmer of the Month, the national office announced Wednesday. Lethbridge was selected for his performances from the beginning of the season up until Jan. 11. This is the first swimming honor of the 2014-15 season.

  • Lethbridge won 14-of-16 individual events he competed in, and added three victories in relay events.
    • The freshman posted “A” cut times in 14 individual events.
    • The London, Canada, native set a school record in the 100-meter butterfly (49.89) and pool record in the 50-meter freestyle (20.80) on Dec. 6 in the Union College Winter Invitational at Stivers Aquatic Center.
    • This is Lethbridge’s first national award.

Tixier Reels in National Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Lisa Tixier of Biola (Calif.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Swimmer of the Month, the national office announced Wednesday. Tixier was selected for her performances from the beginning of the season up until Jan. 11. This is the first swimming honor of the 2014-15 season.

  • Tixier – whose older sister, Christine, was last year’s NAIA Female Swimmer of the Year – has 13 individual first-place finishes, and has led the Eagles’ relay teams to multiple victories already this season.
    • The freshman’s 13 wins have come in just 19 events so far this fall.
    • The Benton City, Wash., native has met national qualifying standards in 18 of her 19 times.
    • This is Tixier’s first national award.
