Money Lists: Through Day 2 of Minneapolis GP, Beisel and Clary Winning Big

After two days of the 2014 Minneapolis Grand Prix, the first stop on the 2014-2015 USA Swimming Grand Prix Series, two swimmers (Elizabeth Beisel and Tyler Clary) have each earned $2,800 worth of event-winnings.

There’s a lot of really interesting names along with them high on these lists, including former Michigan Wolverine Miguel Ortiz, for whom this sort of format works well because of his versatility in the sprint events. 16-year old Beata Nelson is also making noise on the women’s side: she’s still the only swimmer besides Beisel and Clary to win multiple events at this meet. She’s a short course star, and is having her coming out party here in Minneapolis.

Note: Swimmers who, based on best available information, are still amateurs are marked with an “(A)” below. While there are loopholes allowing athletes to accept some prize money to cover expenses in the NCAA guide-book, they’re too complex to look at on a case-by-case basis, so we’ve focused on earned money versus received money.
