Minnesota Lands 22 Scholar All-Americans

MINNEAPOLIS – Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned Scholar All-American Team status by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) after maintaining team GPAs higher than 3.00. The Minnesota women’s team averaged a 3.47 GPA during the 2014-15 season, while the Gopher men’s squad combined for a 3.16. In addition, 22 student-athletes collected individual honors.

 

Minnesota’s CJ Smith, Jakub Maly, Matt Barnard, Blake Zeiger, Brooke Zeiger, Danielle Nack, Jessica Plant, Katy Etterman, Lauren Votava, Rebecca Weiland, Samantha Harding, Tori Simenec and Yu Zhou qualified for their respective NCAA Championship meet and maintained a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Andrew Hartbarger, Chris Johnson, Ian Gordon and Nick Hatanaka received Honorable Mention status from the Gopher men’s team, while Abigail Raatz, Brooke Lorentzen, Devin Ste. Marie, Kiera Janzen and Maddie Hoch were named Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans. Honorable Mention selections have similarly achieved a GPA of at least 3.50 and achieved a “B” time standard or competed at their respective qualifying meets.

The University of Minnesota celebrates the success of these student-athletes both in the classroom and in the pool. Congratulations!
