Maurer, 2012 Olympic Swimmer, Poses for Playboy

Angela Maurer, 2012 Olympic qualifier in the 10k for Germany, poses for Playboy Magazine. She is part of a special issue of the German magazine that features Olympians in the buff.

With open water credentials like hers, posing nude wasn’t neccessary to gain attention. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Angela finished 4th, just out of the medal hunt. The following year, she won the 25k in Rome at the 2009 FINA World Championships, and netted silver in the 25k at last year’s Worlds in Shanghai. She’s also a two-time European Champion in the 10k and 25k.

Maurer was also the champion of the 2011 FINA Open Water World Cup, and is qualified for this year’s Olympics in open water by way of a top-10 finish in the 10km race in Shanghai.

At 36, nearly twice the age of many of her competitors, Angela is respected as an open water workhorse. This mother of one also works as an Associate Commissioner of Police.

Olympians appearing in Playboy Magazine is not exactly rare. Many have. To name a few:
  • 7-time Olympic medalist, Amanda Beard, turned heads when she appeared in the magazine in 2007
  • Poland’s Luiza Hryniewicz, a 2005 European Junior Champion in the 50 breaststroke, was in the magazine in 2011
  • Swimmer and Olympic silver medalist, Haley Cope, appeared in 2004
  • Figure skater, Katrina Witt, posed in 1998.
We would post a link, but we’re trying to keep the site at least PG-13. A quick Google search will turn up all of the results you need.
