There’s once again turnover at the Phoenix Swim Club, where Matt Rankin has been removed from his position as head coach after just 6 months at the helm. Garrett McCaffrey has been named the head coach on an interim basis, with the plan to make his a long-term role with the team.

Brian Hoffer, a former head coach at the University of Missouri who now lives in the Phoenix area, has been brought on as an advisor to McCaffrey during this transition, though Hoffer will not have specific on-deck coaching duties. McCaffrey swam for Hoffer while at Missouri.

Among Garrett’s coaching resume  includes coaching at the King Aquatic Club and the past few years working at the Scottsdale Aquatic Club and the Phoenix Aquatic Club.

McCaffrey is a co-owner and reporter for SwimSwam.com. He has previously also worked for Swimming World Magazine and FloSwimming, and in his time there has developed a relationship with many of the top minds in swimming.
